Epic camping spot.
Grout pond is a nature paradise with a lovely lake, streams, hiking/skiing trails and thick forests. The lake is nice for swimming and paddling, with a hand launch on the north shore. A great place for dogs. It's my favorite spot in this region of Vermont.
Free camping in the off season with a nice view to boot (note the pic of the pond during peak foliage) you can either car camp away from the pond or right next to it , but you'll have to carry your gear...either way- it's a really nice place to camp. It's the first place I camped when I came to hike up here the first time with my dog...
Nice spot but beware of sketchy campers. You get some in park homeless, usually comes with some type of story... they are making us leave because... our stuff got broken into by a bear... perhaps down on their luck, but will rob your campsite blind if you leave anything of value. This is a rangerless spot with limited facilities. Hand pumped water in season. Pay sites along pond, free sites up near loop. Nice place, just watch out for sketchy neighbors...
