We just got back from a wonderful stay at Liftline Lodge. I will admit I was freaked out by the other reviews but our room in building three was spotless! The rug looked new and the beds were very comfortable, I even wanted to take the pillow home. I heard they may knock it down and start new and I really hope they don't. It's quaint and rustic and the bones of the place are worth saving. A little update is all that's needed. It is from a by-gone era which I understand is not for everyone. No front desk was not a problem for us, and it was very quiet (President's Weekend even). Yes, the room was a bit too warm but we opened the windows and enjoyed the fresh air. We've stayed it luxury hotels and everything in between and I would stay here again. I left behind a pair of boots and housekeeping found them and they are sending them FedEx to my home. Very short walk to all the amenities Stratton has to offer- three nights was not enough!
The room was decent size, seemed clean, heat was blasting. But the windows did not open. Only one lamp was working out of three. Maintenance worker came in and brought a light bulb for one. Another one was shorted and did not work at all. The shower had a horrible head - just created a mist. But thankfully the water was hot.
If you like blood splatter on your wall and lamps that look like they are made of human flesh this place is for you. It's cheap and close to the mountain only perk. U can't turn the heat down the beds are super old and everything is worn out.
These accommodations are fine. Nothing outstanding except the surroundings, which is probably why you’d be here anyway.
We stayed in this lodge before years ago, but in the main building. Maybe is is slightly better. This time we stayed in building 3 and it was just bad! Not just dated, but neglected. The first thing you see in the "lobby" as you enter - two large clear bags filled with garbage. Tied and ready to be taken out. But the next morning they were still there and the maintenance crew walking around (including a manager) did not seem to pay any attention to it.
Lobby has several different armchairs and a shuttered fireplace. All looks dusty and sad.
This hotel is not for everyone. It is very barebones. There is no staff or front desk, everything is done at the nicer hotel a short walk away. Security wise, there is nobody on site. You could literally probably walk in and sleep on a couch in the common room for free. Decor is very dated and worn 70's.
Room itself was fine. Linens were cheap but clean. Bathroom was clean. If you want to soak up the luxury of Stratton Village, this is not for you. If you want a cheap ski bum style place to crash after a long day on the slopes, it's just fine.
We stayed only one night and spent most of the evening at the Black Bear lodge lobby and game room. I guess, it could be worse. But I do not think I will ever stay here again.
That being said, I've never stayed anywhere slope side for under $100. Also the only dog friendly place in Stratton. There's not even a pet fee.
